Today was supposed to be a bright and sunny day. And it was. So much so that the sun was shining brightly on all those who turned up for the inaugural Creative Warehouse Sale. Too bad people didn't get the hint and go away and let me go about buying stuff without partaking in the long wait. I supposed for cheap MP3 players, people would almost do anything, including lining up the night before to be among the first to get it at an even lower price. Then again, $249 for the creative jukebox 3 (30 gig) is certainly worth the long wait.

Well, I stood in line for over 4 hours to help Nick buy his sound and video card. When I finally got into the warehouse, the temptation to get something else got the better of me. Ended up with a new speaker and subwoofer for the PS2 for $59. Not a bad deal. The system looks quite cool, although it's really mean to be used in the room rather than the hall.

Still, a 30 gig MP3 player. *drools* Maybe I should start saving for the next warehouse sale in September.

Not enough action. I'm sorry Lee Ang, your movie was good but it lacks enough action. I would have thought that The Hulk would be a simple property to bring to the big screen compared to all the other Marvel properties like Spiderman and X-men. The movie was pretty dozy at parts, the hulk dogs were crappy (come on! Killer french poodles...) and the final fight was fake and contrived. CGI was okay, not perfect, and there were very little hulk sounds. You know, like "HULk SMASH!" or "Puny Banner makes Hulk MAD!" Even more grunts would make the Hulk more, well, Hulkish.

There were some good. Jennifer Connelly lights up the screen whenever she appears. The comic book style scene transitions and wipes were pretty good and unique. Ultimately, it was a commendable effort by the director but I must say the overall movie seemed to fall short of what a good Hulk movie is all about.

800 pages of exposition. That's my take on Order of the Phoenix. Not that it's not any good, but frankly, it lacks the omph of the last four books. Not to say that it wasn't interesting. The surest sign of a good story is when you start to feel with the characters. And I cared about Harry. About how he hasn't had a single decent day in this book. About how he is getting all so angsty. About how he is taking it out on everyone around him and affecting his relationships.

I use the love the early books because it introduced us to this brand new world that was so funny and delightful. Come on, who wasn't intrigued by a Quidditch match? Or that clock in the Wesleys that shows the location of all the family members. But there is precious little to laugh about in this book. Voldemort alive and on the loose, Minister Fudge being a stubborn arse and undermining Dumbledore in everyway he can with his decrees. The list goes on. Yet therein lies the book greatest strength It may be a children's book but it doesn't look down on its readers. At the same time, it is growing up with them as well. I can imagine all those kids that started reading the Philosopher's Stone around nine sticking around for book 7, be 19 and learning about facing up to your worst fears, fighting the good and just fight and sacrifice from their childhood heroes.

In other news:
Concorde moves to Smithsonian

Something I've always wondered: if I am sitting on the nose of the Concorde and I give a shout, can the person in front of me hear me shout?

Climb up Bukit Timah Hill today as training for Nepal. Stupid stairs... I can take a hike but climbing stairs is just not my cup of tea. Plus the fact that I'm seriously out of shape. Really need to lose the tummy soon.

Jun recommended that we go to Pelapas next week for a change of scenery. There's only so many paths in BTH for us to play with. Pelapas will also be tougher so that's a plus. See how it goes.

Halfway through the holidays and still no internship. Sigh...

Went to the zoo yesterday. The place just keeps getting better and better. Tech was so delighted and intrigued by the sight of monkeys roaming around freely. The open concept worked really well I must say. Truly one of the few places in Singapore one can be truly proud of.

When there is a conflict, the parties involved have two routes to a resolution.

1.They can sort things out amicably.
2.They ride roughshod over one another.

In the war on piracy, the RIAA had many dubious decisions and actions. The things done by them are representitive of the reasons why big businesses and consequently, globalisation is being spitted upon the world today. When encountered with a problem like piracy, they choose to bulldoze their way over the weaker parties to make a point. Will they not ever realised that actions like this will only serve to alienate music buyers? At least Napster was justified somewhat. Here, the guy was just guilty of writing a search program. Who's next, Google? Yahoo?

Let's see if Jesse Jordon, his friends and family will ever buy another music cd in his life ever again.

Ver 2.0 beta out. Got a new skin. New skins are always good.

9th day of the 6th month of the 3rd year into the new millennium. Work your mind around that one.

Went to Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon with Tech today. Sentosa had certainly gone downhill during the lat few years. Stuff there are really old and decrepit now. Really hope the current revamp will suceed in injecting new life into that island.

On to entertainment news, Pixar has done it again. Finding Nemo is a masterpiece of a gem that everyone who ever loved a Pixar file should watch. The lighting, flow of water, charater movement, set pieces, everything was just so wonderfully animated. I just spent the entire day looking at marine life but still couldn't believe that Nemo and gang were just 3D images. And who would have thought chronic short term memory loss could be so delightfully funny. Brilliant piece of work.

Alright, ver 1.0 of the blog is finally up and running. Manage to get all the windows working and settled in their ideal positions. Will be working on the other asthetics aspects of the blog in the coming days.

Weirdest thing happened today. Sister goes onto IRC, random channel by the name of #lomo. Guys starts talking to her, shows her his fotolog. Turns out guy is brother's school mate. What are the chances of that happening? Like I said, weird...

For those moments when the simple 'Oh oh' alert of ICQ from the laptop is not enough to embarass your friend's presentation, there's now this

And oh, be afraid. Be very afraid.

And a New Blog is Born!!! *cue fanfare*

Yes, after much delay, hewing and hemming, I've finally managed to sit down and start my own blog. Now to cross my fingers and hope this turns out better than the last time I tried to kept a diary......

Life has been good. My girlfriend is here with me. After five long months of seperation (thank you SARS), she's finally here from Thailand! Happy days are ahead. Those of you in a close distance relationship, appreciate your steads while they're near. LDR is never fun...

Check out my photo log. Name's Dagger's Lab, link's on the right side, top one. What are you waiting for?

Personal musings and ramblings of a self confessed weird guy who likes taking pictures when inspiration hits him but would much rather hit the road for some cycling rather than study another business or marketing textbook unless it is something that gets his interest which is a lot of things especially general knowledge stuff, Last Chronicles of Thomas Convenent theories, backpacking trips as well as the occasional booker prize winner and oh yes, PS2 when I can find the time.
